40th Annual French Literature Conference

The French Literature Conference at the University of South Carolina invites papers treating the construction of girlhood in Literature and Film.
Possible topics might include, but are not limited to:
Literary and Cinematic Representations of Girls; Literature for Girls; Girls and Education; Socialization of Girls; Coming of Age; Body Image; Identity; Sexuality; Race; Ethnicity; Religion; Mothers and (young) Daughters; Girls and Feminism; Girls’ Studies
Abstracts (500 words, plus brief bibliography) and a one-page CV, in English or in French, must be submitted (hard copy, fax or e-mail attachment) to the conference organizer by November 1, 2011. Conference papers should be held to a twenty-minute presentation time (no more than 10 double-spaced pages). Selected papers will be published as volume 40 of French Literature Series (Rodopi). Participants who would like for their papers to be considered for publication in the volume are encouraged to expand their presentations to no more than 15 typed double-spaced pages, to be submitted by August 1, 2012.
