Description:
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Jules Verne’s death (1905–2025), the international and Greek literary community honors the author who shaped the literature of imagination and science fiction. His works remain timeless, beloved, and relevant, with a strong presence in Greek cultural production. Jules Verne has been especially loved by the Greek public since the late 19th century, when the first translations of his works were published in Greek, primarily through publishers targeting both young readers and the general audience. His novels — including Around the World in 80 Days, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, From the Earth to the Moon, among others — have been translated, illustrated, and republished repeatedly, enjoying continued success throughout the 20th century and into the present day.

The 45th tribute issue will include studies on his influence, his connection with Greece, and contemporary approaches to his ideas through the lens of technology and society.

Suggested topics include:
• Studies on Verne’s influence on Greek and global literature
• The relationship between Jules Verne and Greece, and the lasting reception of his work in the country
• Analyses of Verne’s presence in modern Greek cultural production (translations, illustrations, theatrical/cinematic adaptations)
• Articles examining his scientific and utopian ideas through the prism of today’s technological and social reality
• Interdisciplinary approaches linking Verne to issues of cultural heritage, education, ecology, etc.

Articles must adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines (see platform, About > Submissions) and, under the journal’s policy, will undergo a double-blind peer review.
